Domaine Cathiard Bourgogne Aligote 2023 750ML

The Aligoté grapes used for the Domaine's only white wine come from a total of 2.26 hectares of vineyards. A tiny 0.13 hectares situated in the commune of Nuits Saint Georges and 2.13 hectares in Villers-La-Faye in the Hautes Côtes are the sources. The vines in Nuits Saint Georges were planted in 2013, while those in Villers are impressively between 50 to 80 years old. These two vineyards are characterized by their deep clay soils. The winemaking process involves spontaneous yeast fermentation and aging for a period of 6 months in stainless steel tanks.

The 2023 Bourgogne Aligoté was bottled in April. It has a clean and sharp bouquet—a little more malic, perhaps from the fruit located up in the Hautes-Côtes. The palate is well balanced, a little oily in texture, with fine acidity and a lighter, sour lemon- and ginger-tinged finish. Enjoy this over the next four or five years.
