Since 1350, the Bichot family has called Burgundy home. I 1831, Bernard Bichot founded a merchant house bearing his name a couple of kilometers south of Beaune. At the end of the 19th century, his grandson Albert Bichot took the family business into a new direction and created the winery, Maison Albert Bichot as we know it. The family heritage has been perpetuated since then. Albert Bichot has acquired 250 acres of vineyards in the most reputed growing areas throughout Burgundy. The family crest, consisting of a deer and antlers, has been synonymous with the winery since its inception.
Graced with black cherry, blackberry, spice and earth flavors, this red is exuberant and intense. A healthy dose of oak adds to the structure and spicy character. Finishes long and is built to age. Best from 2023 through 2043.
Quite minerally with flinty, stony accents, as well as bright cherries, raspberries, wild forest notes and hints of pastry. The palate has a very fine texture and a firm, long shape. Really fresh cherries here. Good depth and salient acidity, too. Try from 2022.
The 2016 Corton Clos des Marechaudes Grand Cru has a superior bouquet compared to other Cortons tasted in this flight with lifted redcurrant, raspberry and crushed stone aromas that are well defined and focused. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannin, well-judged acidity, chalky in texture with a vivid and focused finish. This is a classy Corton that will age with style. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting. (Drink between 2022-2045)
