20% of the fruit was not destemmed to add a bit of extra spice to the aromas. After five days of cold soaking in tank, fermentation began on its own. Hence, there was no need to inoculate. After a long, slow fermentation (24 days!), the wine was pressed to all French oak, 21% new, and bottled unfined and unfiltered.
The 2019 Syrah Radiant Ridge Vineyard offers up a beguiling mix of wild cherry, tobacco, licorice, spice, tobacco and earthiness. I would give the tannins a bit of time in bottle to settle down. This wild, virile Syrah sure has a lot to offer. This is an especially earthy, savory style, with the fruit pushed into the background. This needs quite a bit of air, but there is a lot of wine there!
