Situated on the outskirts of Pauillac, overlooking the Gironde estuary, the Lynch-Bages vineyard (1855 Grand Cru Classé) stretches over the Bages plateau, one of the commune’s most beautiful gravelly hilltops. Marrying the worlds of wine and culture, the Cazes family has positioned Lynch-Bages at the core of an "art de vivre" epitomised today both at the Cordeillan-Bages Relais & Châteaux hotel and in the village of Bages.
In 2006, Jean-Michel Cazes handed the reins over to his son Jean-Charles, who is driven by the same high standards, and the Lynch-Bages wines have continued to reflect their generosity and excellence. For several years, substantive work has concentrated on improving knowledge of the vineyard, studying its soils, introducing mass selection and analysing plots.
"The 2014 Lynch-Bages is full of promise, offering up a classic bouquet of rich but vibrant blackcurrant fruit mingled with with hints of loamy soil, cedar and vanilla pod. Full-bodied, deep and layered, with an abundance of ripe but youthfully assertive tannin, lively acids and a long, resonant finish, it will hit its stride in 10 to 15 years. This is an excellent Lynch-Bages that represents especially good value in the contemporary marketplace."-William Kelley
