Meo Camuzet - Corton Perrieres 2017

"Aromas of red berries, warm spices, orange rind and cedary new wood introduce the 2017 Corton-Perrières Grand Cru, a medium to full-bodied wine that's bright and tensile, with firm but fine-grained tannins and a chalky, austere profile that mark it out as a wine that will need some time in bottle. Méo used 15% stems here." (WK) Wine Advocate

Meo Camuzet Description

Méo-Camuzet is one of the most celebrated domaines of the Côte d’Or, located in the heart of prestigious Vosne-Romanée. The domaine boasts fourteen hectares of land in some of the most spectacular appellations and crus of Burgundy. The vineyard land in Burgundy is highly parceled out among families, which makes it rare for anyone to have enough vines to be able to bottle one grand cru, let alone the six that the Méos have. The early beginnings of the domaine left it in the hands of share-croppers. The last twenty years have brought substantial changes that have fostered a new chapter for the Méo family.

Vinous: 92-94 Points

The 2017 Corton-Perrières Grand Cru has quite a punchy nose, one that wants to be noticed, offering copious dark cherry, wild strawberry and bergamot aromas and becoming ever more floral with aeration. The medium-bodied palate is quite sweet, featuring a touch of fig confit on the entry and candied orange peel lacing the vibrant red fruit. The 10% stem addition lends a little spice on the finish. This is perhaps more expressive than previous vintages I have encountered at this stage in the past. - Neal Martin

A View from the Cellar: 92 Points

"The 2017 Corton “Perrière” from Domaine Méo-Camuzet included fifteen percent whole clusters in this vintage. The bouquet is simply superb, jumping from the glass in a complex blend of black cherries, bonfire, venison, a touch of cinnamon (from the stem inclusion), stony soil tones, espresso and cedar. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and focused, with excellent nascent complexity, a respectable core, fine mineral drive and a long, ripely tannic and well-balanced finish." - John Gilman
