(Domaine Perrot-Minot, Pinot Noir / Pinot Nero, Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru, Burgundy, France, Red) The aromas range from red plum to black cherry, with lovely notes of rose petal and ginger. The structure is subtle and understated, with a completely limpid tannic web that firmly sustains the wine without anything harsh or aggressive. The wine is approachable even now but should live for 50 years or more - a triumph. ‘Elegant, mineral, ethereal,' in the words of Christophe Perrot-Minot, who often finishes his tastings with the Clos de Bèze because of its aristocratic refinement. (Chambertin Clos de Bèze, Grand Cru, Perrot-Minot, Red) Noble imperial purple, the finesse is here right from the start, with a sumptuous weight but this Clos de Bèze is never heavy and the tannins are scarcely present. This flows across the palate magically and leaves the most serenely gorgeous aftertaste.
