"The Champs Ronds terroir is located in the village of Leynes. The plot is on a plateau with a slight slope with a gradient of about 5%, which allows for better drainage, giving the grapes more concentrated aromas. Intense bouquet, delicate, charming, with notes of citrus and flowers. The wine has all the typical opulence and elegance of a Saint-Véran, with a back taste of fresh citrus and fine minerality."-Winery Notes
The 2020 Saint-Véran Champ Rond (yes, the vineyard is round, or rather like a dome) is a worthy follow-up to their excellent 2019. With impressive complexity on the nose, this offers scents of yellow plum, beeswax and light limestone aromas. The palate is well-balanced with a keen line of acidity, taut and fresh, and fine tension. While not powerful, the oak (15% of the blend) is neatly integrated and lends fine weight to the finish. Recommended.
