"The 2021 Brunello di Montalcino wafts up with a pretty blend of citrus-tinged blackberries violets and sweet spice. Textures of pure silk and cooling acidity beautifully complement racy red and black fruits. I love the momentum and purity here. It leaves a steely mineral concentration to mingle with fine tannins and inner rose tones. Over the last two vintages I’ve found significantly more purity and liveliness in the wines. Winemaker Fabio Ratto explained that for the past four or five years the team has focused more on expressing terroir and Sangiovese character rather than pursuing a house style. If you’ve previously found these wines too powerful and oaky it’s time to give them another chance. Both the Brunello and Rosso have improved drastically."-Eric Guido
