Here's a cleaner, less technical version: Benoit Ente is Arnaud's younger brother — and if you know Arnaud, you know that's saying something. But Benoit is very much his own man, and the gap between "the other Ente" and one of Burgundy's most exciting producers is closing fast. Benoit has been making wine since the late 80s, but it wasn't until 1997 that he started farming his own land — a modest inheritance of just under 4 hectares, almost entirely in Puligny-Montrachet, with small slivers in Chassagne and Meursault. Not a lot of ground to work with, but he's made every row count. En la Richarde is the jewel of the domaine. It sits right at the doorstep of the Grands Crus — close enough to feel the gravity of that neighborhood — and the limestone bedrock runs so close to the surface you can practically see it in the glass. The parcel makes up just 4% of the entire Folatières appellation, which tells you everything about how rare this wine is.
