Chateau Labegorce Description

The origins of Lab?gorce lie in a large estate in the northern parts of the commune of Margaux. The Lab?gorce vineyards include three main plots, totalling 70 hectares in all. Each parcel of vines, of which there are many, is vinified separately. The blend is 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. 

Bordering on ch?teaux Margaux and Lascombes, The Perrodo family acquired Lab?gorce in 1989 and renovated not only the ch?teau building, but also the vineyard. They also improved winemaking, and Lab?gorce is now a charming wine with beautiful structure, bright fruit, and great finesse.

I continue to love the wines from Lab?gorce. Their 2022 checks in as 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Classic notes of darker currants, blackberries, smoked tobacco, and fresh earth all flow to a medium to full-bodied, pure, layered Margaux offering quality tannins as well as terrific purity of fruit. Pulled from 85% of the total production and aging in 40% new French oak, it's going to offer pleasure right out of the gate yet still have two decades of longevity.
