From mature vines and a majestic site, the completely destemmed fruit - fermented without punching down - gives a complete wine that is seductive even now and should continues to astonish with age. Layered and complex, the initial impression is of opulent black cherry fruit, liquorice and rose petals. On the palate, the wine is surprisingly fresh and firm, yet also shows an immediately appealing, voluptuous texture. This tightly packed wine will likely benefit from as much age as you can stand to give it. (Drink between 2029-2049)

Inside Burgundy: 96-100 Points

Very intense black purple, the bouquet has gone to sleep as the cellar cools down for winter. Then, put the wine in your mouth and this really is majestic. Some fruit starts slowly to emerge on the nose too, very deep red purple, roses in full bloom, ripe but perfectly balanced, a juiciness and a mineral thread together, quintessence of strawberry but so much else besides. Many delicate waves of flavour which push on to an exceptionally persistent finish. Experience suggests that the wine may go to sleep for quite a few years after bottling, but at this point it is a brilliant example of one of Burgundy?s greatest vineyards.
