Ian D'Agata 96+ points "Good full ruby-red. Big, deep aromas of blueberry, crushed rose petal, licorice and dark chocolate, with a herbal nuance not unlike the sage that is more typical of wines form the Pora cru. Then sweet, lush and deep, with lovely lift to the violet, licorice and sandalwood flavours. Firmly structured and long on the aftertaste; while it is already showing good mid-palate fat, this really needs at least a few years to expand. It’s a deeper and more saline Barbaresco than the 2021 Riserva Pora, if less immediately forward and approachable, but for all its sweetness and size, the 2021 Rio Sordo manages to maintain impressive verve.
