A blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, the 2022 Château Montviel is beautifully structured, offering dark currants, iron, tobacco, graphite, and deep minerality. Medium to full-bodied and concentrated, it has ripe tannins and impressive richness. Vinified in concrete and fermented in oak barrels, then aged for 16 months in 100% new French oak, this will evolve well for 20+ years. Total production: 967 cases.
Spiced dark plums, iron, paprika and dark chocolate on the nose. Ripe and quite open-grained with juicy, ripe fruit and very dusty tannins. Long and fragrant in the finish. Already approachable but better in one more year. Tasted from a half bottle.
