Chateau Peby-Faugeres - St.-Emilion 2022

Chateau Peby-Faugeres Description

Owned by Silvio Denz, Château Peby Faugères is a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé located on Bordeaux’s Right Bank. Thanks to the efforts and investments made by Silvio Denz, Château Peby Faugères has gradually become one of the finest references in the appellation.

Château Peby Faugères is a Saint-Émilion wine that stems from a vineyard of 7.15 hectares. The vines are planted on a clay-limestone slope in a single block and have a south/south-east orientation.

This 2022 vintage celebrates the 25th vintage of Château Péby Faugères. Created in 1998 under the impetus of Corinne Guisez, widow of Pierre-Bernard "Peby" Guisez, this estate bears the imprint of Pierre-Bernard Guisez, who, together with Michel Rolland, identified the full potential of this terroir.
To mark this anniversary, Silvio Denz is unveiling a bottle of great elegance, paying tribute to the men and women who have shaped the history of this estate.

Vatting time of 30 days in concrete and stainless steel vats and barrels. The wine is aged for 14 months in French oak barrels, 45% of which are new and 45% of which are one wine and 10 are two wines.

Merlot (100%).

Vinous: 96 Points

"The 2022 Peby Faugères, 100% Merlot, is a rich, heady wine. A blast of black cherry, plum, lavender, licorice, sage, grilled herbs and menthol stains the palate. This sumptuous, explosive Saint-Émilion packs a pretty serious punch. There's a lot of wine here. This is a gorgeous, stylish offering from Silvio Denz."-Antonio Galloni

Jeb Dunnuck: 95 Points

"The 2022 Château Péby Faugères is a bold, full-bodied effort showcasing ripe red, blue, and black fruits, chocolate, and graphite-driven aromas and flavors. A spicy saddle leather nuance adds complexity to this lush and weightless effort, and it brings a fruit bomb-like style while still holding everything together nicely. Brought up in plenty of new wood (beautifully integrated), it will evolve well for 20+ years."-Jeb Dunnuck

James Suckling: 94 Points

"This is very powerful and rich, with layers of fruit and loads of fine tannins that are silky and caressing, reminiscent of Napa. It's full and intense with plums, chocolate and lots of redcurrants. This is a wine that harks back to the early 2000s. Juicy and flavorful. Pure merlot."-James Suckling
