The 2021 Séraphine has a very refined bouquet with mainly black fruit. Since tasting it from barrel, it has developed a light marine scent that imparts complexity. Tart on the entry, the palate is medium-bodied with good weight for a Pomerol in this vintage, fresh and noticeably improving after three or four hours of opening. It loses a little precision on the finish, but otherwise this is a fine Pomerol to drink over the next decade.
A strong effort in a challenging year, the 2021 Séraphine offers up pure and fruit-driven aromas of raspberries, plums and cherries, followed by a medium to full-bodied palate that's quite rich and layered by the standards of the vintage, exhibiting powdery tannins and good persistence on the finish.
