Denis Bachelet - Bourgogne Rouge 2016
A View from the Cellar
This is one of the recurrent themes of the 2016 vintage- just how good the Bourgogne rouge is in the cellars here. Denis Bachelet always makes excellent and serious Bourgogne, but the 2016 is exceptional, as it offers up a pure and sappy nose of black cherries, dark berries, bitter chocolate, a lovely base of soil tones and a nice touch of Gevrey meatiness. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, focused and nicely sappy at the core, with lovely balance and just a bit of suave, backend tannin adding conviction on the long finish. Good juice.
