The Domaine of Faiveley is situated in the village of Nuits-Saint-Georges, Burgundy, France. Wine runs deep in the Faiveley family’s blood. Seven generations and one of the largest owners in Burgundy, with holdings spreading from the Côte de Nuits to the Côte Chalonnaise, featuring polished, collectible reds and whites with exceptionally high ratings. Today it is managed by Erwan Faiveley and his sister Eve Faiveley.
"Faiveley’s wines are... supremely clean and elegant: definitive examples of Pinot Noir... above all they have richness and breed, the thumbprint of a master winemaker." -Clive Coates M.W. Côte d’Or, A Celebration of the Great Wines of Burgundy.
Produced from 0.81ha of old vines in the original Charmes section, just underneath Chambertin, where the grapes have delivered an incredibly aromatic wine with ripe plummy fruit, exotic spice, smoke and mineral notes. This has a silky texture, but does not lack the backbone of the best Gevrey Grands Crus. Truly impressive.
(Charmes-Chambertin, Grand Cru, Joseph Faiveley, Red) The Charmes-Chambertin is a blend of Domaine fruit (ex Dupont-Tisserandot) and purchased grapes from the neighbour, vinified separately then blended. This has just a light reductive nose before the sweet strawberries and cream kick in. It is ripe, not unbalanced, the reduction reprising towards the finish. Fine length again.
