This was the one red wine chez Lafon that was still out of sorts from its very recent racking, but seemed to have good constituent components to it and the fruit tones are again, quite red fruity. The nose is deep and nicely pure, delivering a mix of red plums, cherries, lovely spice tones, dark soil elements, gamebird, violets and a touch of oak. On the palate the wine is agitated from its racking, but has good depth, full body, lovely complexity and is probably very well balanced, with fairly moderate tannins. I am sure this will be very good indeed, but it is too grumpy today to attempt to score it precisely.
An attractive red crimson colour. Stylish, graceful Volnay, les petits fruits rouges as the locals like to say. These may be the younger vines but they deliver plenty of volume on the palate, especially at the front, but persisting too after the light tannins. Very deliciously.
