Certified organic. Blend from several vineyards in the south-west of the Barolo region around Barolo, Monforte d’Alba and Novello. Planted in 1991, they have been organically farmed since 2010. The Nebbiolo vines are Lampia clones and are grown on rootstocks K5BB and 420A.The wine was made organically with minimal sulphites. The must was fermented at controlled temperatures, followed by maceration for all of 30 days, extracting flavour, colour and tannins. It then underwent malolactic conversion. The wine was then transferred to large Slavonian oak casks of 15 to 30 hectolitres where it matured for 24 months. It received one year's bottle ageing in the cellar prior to release.

Aromas of camphor, rose, new leather and a whiff of forest floor shape the nose. It's full-bodied and still youthfully austere, offering sour cherry, pomegranate and star anise framed in tightly knit, fine-grained tannins that need a few more years to unwind. Drink 2024–2929. Kerin O' Keefe
