Hiedler - Gruner Veltliner Ried Thal 2021

Attractive scents of honeydew melons, green mangoes and white flowers while also showing some cool and spicy aspects with pink pepper berries. Wonderful fruit on the palate, apple and pineapple, textured with sandy-calcareous minerality, a hint of sage tea, great substance and finely integrated acidity along with a long and yellow-fruity finish.

Hiedler’s holdings are in the best vineyards in the Kamptal, with riesling parcels in the Heiligenstein and Gaisberg, and grüner veltliner in the deep loess vineyards that rest at the base of those two mountains: Lamm, Grub, and Renner. Hiedler’s other sites in the area include a ‘Grand Cru’ monopole, Thal, Spiegel, Steinhaus, and Loiserberg.

Savory richness infuses this wine with rooty turnip and pithy lemon notes. The texture is supple and creamy, the citrusy fruit built for roast white meats, like a saddle of rabbit.

This has impressive purity to the orchard fruit and white peach flavors, all powered by grapefruit pith acidity. Glossy-textured and harmonious, with a dusting of white pepper and candied ginger through the dense, finessed finish. Drink now through 2028.
