"The 2014 Bonnes-Mares from the Drouhin family, of which there are only two piéces this year, was still in cask in November. This is going to be a gorgeous vintage for this very underrated Drouhin grand cru, as the wine soars from the glass in a blaze of sappy black cherries, plums, raw cocoa, gamebird, a touch of nutskin, a superbly complex base of soil, mustard seed and cedar. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, complex and beautifully balanced, with a sappy core of fruit, superb soil inflection, ripe, suave tannins and a very, very long, focused and utterly pure finish.
