A View from the Cellar: 94 Points

"The Corton bottling from Maison Drouhin is made from purchased grapes and is going to be their workhorse from the hill of Corton for several years to come, as they have finally had to replant their parcel in Corton “Bressandes”. The grapes from this bottling are almost entirely from Renardes and the 2017 is outstanding, offering up a stellar nose of red and black cherries, spiced meats, coriander seed, gamebird, dark soil tones, woodsmoke and cedar. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, complex and soil-driven in personality, with a superb core of pure fruit, ripe tannins and outstanding length and grip on the perfectly balanced, young finish. Wine Advocate: 91-93 Points

Derived mostly from Renardes this year, the 2017 Corton Grand Cru is a definite success, offering up aromas of cassis, spicy soil, grilled meat and dark chocolate. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, layered and incisive, with good depth at the core, fine but firm structuring tannins and a long finish.
