The 2017 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru has an entrancing, pure wild strawberry and cranberry bouquet laced with allspice and orange pith. The oak here is nicely assimilated. The palate is very harmonious on the entry, with sorbet-like red fruit. Hints of salted licorice and Moroccan spices render the finish quite complex. A very fine Charmes-Chambertin that should age with style.
(Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru, Domaine Perrot-Minot, Red) Well placed towards the top of the cru, opposite Rousseau’s Chambertin. Excellent depth of purple, the nose gives us a very typical exuberant Charmes fruit, sweet and concentrated through the middle of the palate, this has very good density and everything is perfectly in place. Bravo. Tasted: December 2018.
