This cuvee is an assemblage from several plots in varied terroirs. On average, the vines are 75 years old.
The quality of the grapes on these old vines explains the vibrant intensity of this wine. The bouquet is deep, pure and discreet. Vieille Vignes is full-bodied, solid, dense and long-lasting wine, sustained by a delicate mineral bitterness.
"Made from 20 different plots, now one blend whereas up to and including 2016 they offered a Tradition and a Vieilles Vignes bottling. 25% wood component. Mid lemon yellow. A little oak, but the subtlety and precision of the fruit is working its way through it, and building in volume. Fresh plums here, working well with the oak, a light tannic grip at the back helps the freshness. Fine long finish."-Jasper Morris, MW
"A broad-ranging nose is comprised by notes of smoked tea, petrol, Granny Smith and a whisper of passion fruit. The succulent and generously proportioned flavors possess excellent density on the saline-inflected, youthfully austere and very dry finale. This is rich effort is decidedly powerful and should age well over the medium-term."-Allen Meadows
"The 2020 Pouilly-Fuissé Héritage comes from a variety of terroirs around the appellation and sees about 20% aged in oak. This has an expressive orchard fruit-scented bouquet with a touch of melted candle wax and almonds. The palate is fresh and vibrant with a twist of orange rind and stem ginger. Very harmonious with ample weight on the finish, this just has the edge over the preceding vintages. Excellent."-Neal Martin
