Langenmorgen GG is a top vineyard - a Grosse Lage - near Deidesheim, the home village of Weingut Von Winning. The ''morning'' in Langenmorgen indicates a field size that a person with a horse can plow in one morning. It is surrounded by Paradiesgarten, an Erste Lage. The wine is spontaneously fermented in 500 liter oak barrels. After alcoholic fermentation, the wine matures on the lees for 1.5 years. This makes the wine more complex and rounder in taste.
Another warm and dry year followed in 2019. The harvest started at the beginning of September, slightly later than the year before. The juice of the wines has a high concentration but remains elegant and depth. The wines have fascinating aromas and are already receiving rave reviews from critics. Due to the extreme climate and the careful selection of the grapes, Von Winning has been able to make a very small amount of this very special vintage.
The Langenmorgen Grosses Gewächs is a layered Riesling, fermented in large 500 liter foeders. In the gals, this beautiful Riesling has a lemon yellow color with aromas of apricot, citrus, peach, but also almond and a hint of oak. In the mouth this is a beautiful typical elegant Riesling with a mineral character. The finish is long and ends dry and salty. Delicious with Vietnamese spring rolls with scampi and coriander.
The Langemorgen is located on a southeast slope of the Haardt hills west of Deidesheim. It rises from 150 to 160 metres a.s.l. at a slope of 14 to 20 % and opens towards the Rhine Plain. The 10-hectare site enjoys long sun exposure and the mountains also contribute to a special microclimate by providing protection from precipitation, cold winds, and frost. The soils are loess loam with high lime content with the typical regional red and white Bunter sandstone in the rocky subsoil. Loess deposits provide good water availability and nutrition for vines.
