Brilliant ruby red with a tendency to garnet. The nose is ethereal, extraordinarily elegant with hints of violet and wood. The palate is dry, harmonic, fruity and velvety, with an elegant texture and long finish.
The 2015 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano “Riserva” from Carpineto is composed of a blend of ninety percent Sangiovese and ten percent Canaiolo. The wine is raised in a combination of used Slavonian and French oak barrels, with the majority being Slavonian wood, for two years prior to bottling. The wine is then given an additional ten months of bottle aging prior to release; the 2015 version here comes in at 13.4 percent alcohol. The wine offers up a superb bouquet of cherries, red plums, woodsmoke, a bit of gamebird, coffee, a lovely base of soil, a touch of oregano, lavender and smoky oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, complex and tangy, with a superb core of fruit, fine soil signature and grip, ripe, well-integrated tannins and a long, poised and very classy finish. This is first class Vino Nobile!
Blackberry, plum, coffee, smoke, iron and tar flavors mingle with the pointed tannins in this distinctive red. Complex and long, if not quite knit together today. Best from 2021 through 2033.
