Riesling made as Lauer's grandfather would have, a bit of residual sugar but nothing so intense as to qualify this as a dessert wine of any sort, halbtrocken at best. The remaining sugar left unfermented is a traditional technique of Germany Rieslings to balance the high levels of acidity naturally in the wines and can result in some of the most elegant white wines on Earth when done well. One could argue this is done exceptionally well.
